Wondering why a dress looks good on her, but not you? Body frame aside, your skin’s undertone may be a factor here. Here are the best colors to wear by undertone.
Which Colors Look Best With Your Undertone?
Undertone refers to the coloring underneath the surface of your skin — you know, the color that determines whether your veins appear blue or green. They’re divided into two categories: warm and cool.
Knowing your undertone is helpful when choosing which colors — be it jewelry, makeup, or clothes — look best. For warmer-toned fashionistas, muted colors are best while pure colors look better on cooler tones.

Easy ways to find your under tone are by looking at the color of your veins, measuring the effect gold or silver jewelry has on your skin, or tracking the effect prolonged sun exposure has on your skin. In regards to the last example, if you tan when in the sun, you have warmer-toned skin; conversely, if you burn when in the sun, you have a cool undertone.
Now that you’ve identified whether you’re warm or cool, you’ll know which colors to buy when shopping for makeup, clothes, or jewelry.
As for me, I have a warm undertone, so I’m super excited to upgrade my wardrobe with these new colors!
