Victoria’s Secret Angel, Bridget Malcolm, Says “Stop Skinny Shaming”

March 26, 2019 By Perry Belcher Leave a Comment

Bridget Malcolm wants you to change the conversation and STOP skinny shaming.

On November 10th, Bridget Malcolm walked down the Victoria’s Secret runway to a less than enthusiastic response as invisible skinny shamers all around the world trolled her “too thin” body on the web.

Refusing to let the body shamers shame her into isolation, Bridget struck back on Instagram with a photo and caption that read:

In an interview with the daily mail, Bridget explains how difficult it is to put on weight and muscle and that, regardless of whether you’re curvy or thin, people are always going to be there to shame you.

VS model Bridget Malcolm hits back after being called anorexic
This is Bridget walking the 2015 Victoria’s Secret fashion show:

What can I say, except that, firstly, there is a general need to ridicule, criticize and shame women for their bodies. First, it was the fat shaming and now, it seems as if the tables have turned and women are being shamed for being “too thin.”   Secondly, props to Bridget for speaking out about this. Everyone has a different body and some women and men are just genetically thin, which doesn’t mean they’re anorexic or bulimic in any way. Plus, can’t you see the muscles on that girl? Clearly she works hard and eats well.   Lastly, it makes me so happy to hear women speak up about the role social media plays in shaming. On every social media site there are hateful comments abound as people feel less of a need to censor their thoughts given the screen of invisibility social media allows them. It has to stop. We all need to support each other, not tear each other down.

What do you think about what Bridget has to say?
