One of these fantastic women is Amal Alamuddin, an international and human rights lawyer. Amal received a fantastic education in both London and New York. She studied and graduated law in St. Hugh’s College, Oxford University, and proceeded to take her master’s at New York University School of Law. In between, she received awards such as Shrigley and an exhibition, which is given when you really excel in class.

She works as a barrister in Bar of England and Wales and practices in Doughty Street Chambers. Barristers are no ordinary lawyers as they are the ones appointed as judges later on. And they have to be so well-versed with the law others call them legal scholars!

The Hague is the home of the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice, which works with the United Nations and states (or nations), especially on disputes. She served as a judicial clerk and worked in the Office of the Prosecutor.

How many of us can claim they’ve ever been to the UN office? I’d been to New York and saw the building, but that’s about it. But Amal? She didn’t just receive an invite, she also worked there! She was a special envoy to former secretary general Kofi Annan, advised the council on Syrian issues, and served as a counsel during the 2013 drone inquiry. Today, she stirs the UN to fight against the ISIS and holds the record as being the first lawyer to sue the terrorists for crimes against the Yazidis and humanity (slow clap here!).
5. She handles some of the high-profile cases in the world
When you have already worked at the Hague, serves as a barrister in the UK, and held many positions in the UN, it’s safe to say you’re no ordinary lawyer. Amal Alamuddin Clooney has handled some of the high-profile cases in the world such as that of Julian Assange, the Wikileaks editor in chief, against extradition from Sweden and represented the entire country of Armenia for genocide crimes. Whew!
6. She fights a lot of causes
