Looking for different types of boots for women? Boots are a must-have shoe for us girls. But we’ve all got different body types, and certain cuts or styles look better on some. I’m sure you’ll be shopping around for the cutest boots you’ve ever laid eyes on. But how will you know if those pair of boots you’re eyeing is the right one for your shape? Before you start your search, check out my top tips to find the most flattering boots for different body types!

8 Types Of Boots For Women You Should Know About

Click here to jump to the infographic.
If you don’t know this by now, different types of boots for women will suit different body types. One size definitely does not fit all. So when looking for different types of boots for women, you have to consider your weight, body frame and shape—we all have different body types, and that’s okay! While you do have the freedom to wear any pair of boots you want, wouldn’t you prefer wearing a pair that flatters you? Let me break down the perfect pairs of boots for all sorts of different body types! Want to find out which boots were made for you? Of course you do, so let’s get started!

1. Petite: over-the-knee booties

For women with small body frames, the best pair of boots should give you an illusion of height. Are you a petite woman with longer legs? Go for over-the-knee booties. If you have shorter legs, going for ankle boots will be better for you as it will give the illusion of length. Always pick booties with heels for extra height! Also, pointed toes are your best bet.

2. Athletic: ankle boots

For women with muscular legs, don’t hide those muscles! In fact, you should show the world what you’ve been working hard on. Ankle boots with heels are the best type for the job. The heels help make the calf muscles look more contracted and the low cut will show off your legs.

3. Boyish: stiletto boots

If you have a rectangular body where you have more angles than curves, you will need a pair of boots with stiletto heels. The thin heels give a feminine appeal to your body and it looks stunning on women with thin calves too. And if you’re feeling more girly there are always boots with embellishments!

4. Hourglass Figures: cone-heeled boots

If you got that sexy hourglass figure, you will need to add some edge. Cone-heeled boots can complement your curves just the way you want them. When it comes to height, you can go all out! You can even go for platform cone-heels! Pointed or rounded-toe? Go for rounded ones.

5. Slender: over-the-knee-high boots

You are blessed, girlfriend! This is the body type that can pull off any type and style of boots. You will never ever go wrong with over-the-knee-high booties. Not only does it emphasize your length, but it also gives your hips the illusion of curviness.

6. Pear-Shaped: knee-length boots

Pear-shaped and plus-sized women must always go for a pair of boots with an elongating effect. Pear-shaped women tend to be heavier around the hips and legs, which is why you need to wear boots with the right height! Calf-length boots are a no-no! Your holy grail? Knee-length boots to make your legs appear longer. Got for boots in solid colors, stacked-heeled booties, and styles that are tight at the ankles.

7. Heart-Shaped: wedge boots

I actually invented the heart-shaped body, but I think it best describes women who are heavier on the shoulders and chest but thin and slender on the leg area. Wedged booties are the best for your body shape because the chunky boots help create balance to even things out.

8. Tall: flat boots

Second to having a slender body, being tall also exempts you from most rules of boot-wearing. Yes, you can practically wear any type of boot you like. However, I suggest you let your natural height show by wearing flat boots instead. In terms of style? The sky’s the limit, girl!

This post has actually helped me in a lot of ways too because I get easily confused with the types of boots for women available in the market. I used to just shop for boots I liked, without really knowing what worked best for different body types. Don’t just be a smart shopper, be your own professional stylist!
