How to Make a DIY Rose Wedding Bouquet You’ll Surely Love

Make Your Own Beautiful Hand-Tied Rose Wedding Bouquet That’s Very Easy You’ll Be Done in Minutes!

Wedding bouquets are part and parcel of the overall bridal look. When a bride walks down the aisle, one of the things the guests look at–aside from the wedding dress–is the bouquet. I should know since I was a bride myself once. I also made my own wedding bouquet, since I’ve always had a fascination for them and had quite a love for flowers. I even love making paper flowers, which you can also use to make a bouquet, by the way!

Roses have always been my favorite flowers for a wedding bouquet or any bouquet for that matter. Roses are sturdy and versatile, and they come in a variety of colors and sizes. For this wedding bouquet, we will use a large variety of roses with shades of light pinks, creams, and apricots. This is perfect for simple light weddings in the summer or spring like boho weddings, where the beautiful blush of roses is all that’s needed to complete the perfect bridal get up.

What You’ll Need

  • At least 5 Memory Lane Roses
  • At least 5 Sweet Avalanche Roses
  • At least 5 Norma Jeane Roses
  • Scissors (either craft scissors or floral shears)
  • Approx. 1 meter of Silk Ribbon (white, ivory, or cream colored)
  • At least 2 Pearl-headed Pins

Step 1. Remove Leaves, Thorns, and Damaged Petals

Pluck all the leaves, thorns, and damaged outer petals of every flower. Be careful not to bruise the stem or the petals. For the thorns, you can use thorn strippers or just your hands.

Step 2. Arrange the Flowers

Start arranging the roses with the largest bloom as the starting flower. Add the rest of the flowers around the first flower, with the stems crossing at the tying point. Turn the bouquet as you work until you form a perfect dome shape.

Step 3. Tie the Stems

Get a floral tape and tie the stems snugly at the crossing point. Cut the excess tape.

Step 4. Bind the Stems

Bind the stems with the ribbon from the base of the flower heads. Cover up to 5-6 inches of the stems, and then secure them with the pearl-headed pins.

Step 5. Trim the Stems

Measure at least 1.5 inches from the bottom of the ribbon-bonded part of the stem, and then cut off the excess stems with the scissors.
