11 Unexpected Fall Shoe Trends All Fashionistas Are Crazy For
What All The Trendy Girls Are Wearing This Season
As you know, I’ve been putting together my fall wardrobe these past few weeks. I already have off the shoulder tops, professional outfits, and street style-approved pieces. But I’m not done yet! I’m still looking for fall shoe trends to pair with my outfits, and so should you. Knowing your fall shoe trends is the key to putting together the best fall-worthy outfits. The right pair of shoes can turn a plain outfit into an eye-catching look, and a change of shoes can easily take your look from day to night.
This year’s fall shoe trends are actually a lot like fall outfit trends. There are a lot of luxurious looks like metallics, suede, and velvet. And there are also retro-inspired trends like 90s platform boots, chunky heels, and loafers. But of course, boots are fall staples that are always on-trend. This year though, they get extra height and extra luxe. With all the different fall shoe trends this year, there’s something for every girl.
1. Metallics
This year’s metallic trend isn’t just for bomber jackets and dresses, it’s for shoes too! Whether you’re a pumps girl or a flats girl, anything metallic counts as a fall must-have.
2. Ballet Flats and Buckles
Valentino’s ballet-inspired shoes started a new and unexpected resurgence of ballet shoes. Elle lists it as one of this year’s biggest fall shoe trends! Buckles are also big this season, going hand-in-hand with platform boots and chunky heels. So why not combine the two fall shoe trends for an edgy, fashion-forward look?
3. Lace-Up Boots
Lace-up anything is another huge 2016 trend that’s still hot this season, so don’t ditch your lace-up pieces just yet! Combine fall shoe trends like this with a fall classic like boots, and you’ve got a stylish addition to any outfit.
4. Velvet
Like metallics, velvet isn’t just reserved for clothes. Gigi Hadid was spotted wearing these eye-catching red velvet boots, so we know this is one of those celeb-approved fall shoe trends. I love how the red velvet really stands out against her denim on denim outfit!
5. Mules
If you thought mules were just for spring and summer, think again. Because they’re more closed-off than other sandals or heels, mules are surprisingly warm! They’re one of those casual and comfy fall shoe trends you can wear with anything from jeans to maxi dresses.
6. Point Toe Heels
Point toe heels are considered basic must-haves these days, but we’ve been seeing them a lot more on the runways this year. Upgrade your plain point toe heels with a girly ribbon or a touch of glitter!
7. Block Heel Pumps
Chunky is in this fall, that’s for sure. But if you’re not ready for super chunky tomboy boots, block heel pumps are a feminine yet on-trend alternative. Pick a unique color like these bright yellow ones for a no-fail pick-me-up.
8. Loafers
Borrowing from the boys isn’t a new thing in fashion, but this year’s fall shoe trends borrow quite a lot! Loafers are versatile shoes that you can wear to work or on lazy weekends.
9. Platform Boots
Punk-inspired style is slowly making a comeback, and platform boots are part of it. A pair of black platform boots adds an instant edginess to any outfit, even dresses!
10. Blush Pink
As far as trendy colors go, blush pink is a favorite. Dress up your plain heels with glitter, rhinestone, and other glam details!
11. Knee-High Boots
If you’re bored of the usual ankle boots, take them one step further! Knee-high boots are one of this year’s biggest fall shoe trends, and they’re also perfect if you want to transition your light summer clothes into fall-worthy outfits.
