Fall fashion trends can range from wearable, to daring, to downright outrageous. But where do you draw the line between trends you can and can’t wear? It’s tricky business, but it helps to work with what you’re comfortable with and know what occasions you’re dressing for. It’s also a good idea to get inspired by trend-setters themselves in a fashion capital like New York! The hustle and bustle of the big city requires a certain amount of practicality and comfort in any outfit, no matter how stylish. So if you’re looking for ways to wear all the biggest fall fashion trends this year, look no further than the streets of New York.
Fall Fashion Trends Straight From The Streets Of New York
I’m so not over New York Fashion Week yet! If you thought street style and fashion-forward runway looks were reserved for the fashion world, think again. I personally look to street style to see how regular girls like me and you can wear all these wonderful fall fashion trends. We see a lot of metallics, pleats, suits, and even 70s- and 90s-inspired looks on the runways and on our favorite celebs this season. But how do we wear all of these fall fashion trends in real life? Well, street style has the answer to all our fashion woes. After all, street style captures normal girls with an eye for fashion, just like you and me! Read on for street style-approved ways you can wear all the hottest fall fashion trends, all season.
1. Bell Sleeves
Bell sleeves are one of those transitional fall fashion trends. During the summer, we saw a lot of sheer fabrics and cool cottons. But for this season, go for bell sleeves with warmer fabrics like wool or knit.
2. Velvet
Velvet has got to be one of this year’s biggest fall fashion trends, and it’s also one of the most wearable. For an instant luxe look, you can incorporate this material into almost anything: boots, pants, dresses, and even blazers. Denim and velvet is such a chic combo!
3. Schoolgirl-Inspired
One of this year’s surprise fall fashion trends, we saw a lot of schoolgirl-inspired looks at New York Fashion Week this year. You probably already have all the pieces in your wardrobe: a button-down shirt, a cardigan or cropped blazer, and a box pleat skirt!
4. Embellished Jackets
Gigi Hadid rocked this embellished denim jacket on the streets of New York Fashion Week this season, and I think I’m in love with it! This is one of those fall fashion trends that lets you flaunt your personality and uniqueness.
5. 70s-Inspired
There have been so many 70s-inspired looks this entire 2016, but they were mostly casual outfits. If you love this trend and want to wear it to work, pick flared pants and a button-down blouse that are both slightly more form-fitting.
6. Blush Pink
Color-based fall fashion trends are also super easy to wear every day. Blush pink is a hot color this season for everything from t-shirts, to dresses, to accessories. So even if you’re wearing the laziest outfit ever, a touch of blush pink will keep you on-trend.
7. Coordinates
Chrissy Teigen was out and about in New York Fashion Week in these geometric coordinates, and she looked amazing! This is another great work-appropriate look that’s fashion-forward at the same time. I just recommend skipping the cropped top and going for a more modest top.

8. Sweats
Sweats aren’t just for the gym anymore. I love this idea of tucking it into a high-waisted skirt; I think I’ll try it out today!
9. White
Crisp white is also one of this year’s biggest fall fashion trends. Keep warm by picking white outfits in thicker fabrics like wool, or pieces with longer sleeves and hemlines.
10. Joggers
Athleisure is here to stay! Give your comfy joggers a fall upgrade by pairing it with a bomber jacket or a coat.
11. Pinstripes
Pinstripes are another example of fall fashion trends you can (and should!) wear to work this season. Play around with different colors and sizes for sharp but on-trend outfits.
12. Power Suits
Karlie Kloss is just one of so many fashionable women who rocked power suits at New York Fashion Week. While Karlie wore hers with a crop top, you can wear power suits the classic way with a crisp white shirt.
13. Pleats
Pleats of all sizes are in this season as well. A pleated skirt is also a refreshing change from your usual work outfits. Pick a colorful pleated skirt and pair it with a white shirt for a stylish work outfit.
14. Metallics
Glitter is out (for now), metallics are in. Silver, gold, copper, and even rose gold are making serious headlines this season as huge fall fashion trends. Metallics are an edgy way to add glamour to your everyday outfits!
15. Boho
These girls are giving us some serious #SquadGoals! They’re also giving us all the ways we can rock boho style this season: off-the-shoulder tops, maxi dresses, and fun geometric prints.
