Here are the fashion trends you’ll be seeing a lot of this year.
The countdown to 2016 begins now and we find ourselves wondering what trends will be hot, not, or meh. If you’re also wondering what to look out for next year, then you need to check out our Spring/Summer fashion trend predictions for 2016!
Earlier this year, design houses paraded their S/S collections, giving us a sneak peek of what to expect next year. If I had to describe the collections in one word it would be “crazy!” This 2016, spring and summer will be more colorful and ornate than ever. Don’t believe me? Check out these trends that will definitely blow up next year.
1. Slip-Ons
We’re kicking off the list with what is promising to be the biggest spring and summer fashion trend in 2016: slip-ons! These slip dresses are slinky and trimmed. They come in chiffon and satin materials that exude sexiness in every inch of fabric. While they may look like your regular nighties, we recommend mixing and matching them with leather jackets, lace-up flats, or a contrasting fabric for a casual, edgy look.
2. Ruffles
It’s time to be girly and there’s no better way to do that than by wearing ruffles. Whether they be on your neck, arms, or dress, as long as you’re sporting ruffles somewhere your style is sure to be on point.
3. Bright Colors
There’s no doubt that next year’s spring and summer fashion will be all about color. We know that spring and summer fashion will be colorful, there’s no doubt about that. But this coming 2016, the colors are leveling up big time! It’s no longer just about the dainty pastels anymore. How can I put this? The brighter the color, the more fashionable you’ll be. Go bold, get crazy for colors — it’s a hit in 2016.
4. Spanish-Inspired
Better keep a lookout for raging bulls because Matador-inspired clothes will be in next year. Predominantly black and red with floral, lace or ribbon embellishments, this trend will absolutely make a beautiful senorita out of you. I’m in love with these pretty and elegant pieces.
5. Haute Slippers
Okay, I’m not crazy about this particular trend but, apparently, lots of people are looking forward to the haute slippers. Basically, it’s your plush bedroom slipper turned couture. How did that happen? I honestly don’t know. But if the fashion gods believe that haute slippers will be hawt this 2016, let’s just grin and see where this trend goes. At least it’s an excuse to wear slippers in public, right?
6. Low Slung Pants
Forget high- and mid-waist, next year it will be all about the low-slung pants! I’m a hippy girl (meaning I have curvy hips) and low-slung pants arethe best for me. They highlight my curves and my sexy hip bone (cause it is sexy!). So if you’re someone who loves low-waist pants like me, we’re going to have a ball come 2016!
7. Shimmer
The shimmer trend is one that is unusual especially in the spring and summertime because we usually keep the shine and glam for fall and winter wear. However, this may just be a good change for our spring/summer wardrobe; what do you think? After all, it gives us a reason to shine throughout the year!
8. The 90s
When I saw the 90s come back, I immediately remembered the time Kate Moss wore an oversized jacket over a mid-riff top. Back in the 90s, it was awesome and then the style became obsolete in the next decade. This 2016, the 90s are back… again. I can already hear a round of applause for this trend! And that’s because the 90s was the most awesome decade ever.
9. Artistic
Even more so than flower prints, pastels and ultra-feminine clothes, 2016 will be the year of artistic expression. I’ve never seen collections as artistic and eclectic as the ones that walked down the runway for S/S 2016, but I’m not complaining. I think it’s about time that we try something new in the sunny seasons.
10. Bows
The bow trend is definitely at the top of my list of favs this year for two reasons: 1) I just love bows in general and 2) this totally reminds me of Gossip Girl Blair Waldorf’s iconic headbands. I’m happy to see that they’ll be a trend this year because you can bet I will be on top of my bow game!
11. Ear Art
This 2016, earrings will be at the forefront of statement accessories. Intricately designed and long earrings will rule the accessory scene this spring and summer. If you’re a fan, that’s great, but if you aren’t fond of big earrings, don’t force it. You gotta love to be able to wear em’.
12. Petite Pleats
What would spring fashion be without pleats? This 2016, the pleats will be ever-present, except this time, we’re more than happy to welcome the miniature version of pleats, aka petite pleats. They’re so feminine… and we love it!
Wow! Are you excited for next year’s fashion trends? Because I sure am! I am really looking forward to the newest trends and might even just step out of my comfort zone (fashion-wise) considering how awesome and game-changing these trends are!
Now tell me, which trend are you most looking forward to?
